Switzerland knocking out tournament favourites Les Bleus in penalties
after the teams played to a 3-3 tie through 120 minutes.

Switzerland who are going through to the quarter-finals, after a 5-4 shootout win. The first nine penalties were all converted, with Pogba’s effort particularly emphatic, but Yann Sommer saved from Kylian Mbappe to settle the contest on a truly dramatic night in Bucharest.

They will face Spain on Friday. Commiserations to Paul, who was excellent in midfield for the 2018 World Cup winners once more.
