‘This one’s for Louis Van Gaal’- Jose Mourinho dedicates Man U’s Community Shield win to former manager
Jose Mourinho after guiding Man U to a 2-1 win over Leicester City in the community shield on Sunday has dedicated the trophy to former Man U coach Louis Van Gaal. Louis Van Gaal was sacked at the end of last season despite leading the team to win the FA cup title, and Mourinho, his friend who replaced the Dutchman after overseeing his new side’s 2-1 win over Leicester City at Wembley decided to dedicate the win to his former Barcelona colleague as well as seven first-team players left out the match squad.
“I want to dedicate this victory to eight people, Mourinho told BT Sport.
‘Seven of my players that were not selected because they weren’t but they deserved to be. They worked hard to be but I had to make changes so people like Ashley Young, [Phil] Jones, all of them not selected, this is to them.
‘And also for the person which allowed us to be here today which is Louis van Gaal because he won the FA Cup and without him we wouldn’t be here now celebrating.’ Mourinho also claimed the world record £100million arrival of Paul Pogba from Juventus is close to being completed.
‘I think so, finally,’ Mourinho added. ‘It’s amazing such a good player is with us and finally we have him and he comes to a winning side – a side that won the last two matches in the cup final and the Community Shield. So he has to work hard to come to the team.’

Mourinho: I Can’t Repeat What I Said at half-time

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 3-2 on Monday evening after going 2-0 down. We scored three goals in the final 35 minutes to go back to 2nd place in the table.
Jose Mourinho has revealed that he dished out the hairdryer treatment at half-time, as well as making some tactical changes, to help the team win the game.
I can’t tell you half of the things that I told them. I can only tell you the other half, which was about the tactical positioning. In the first half, Alexis was on the left and in the second half he was behind Lukaku. In the first half we played with three midfield players but in the second half we played only with two. We gambled a little bit with two against two at the back without Matic’s protection in front of them. Rashford gave us width on the left side.
The message was, I cannot tell you, because of lot of it was bleeping for the television. of bleeping on television. But what I can say was all about the tactical positioning.
To come back from 2-0 down away from home against a team that is desperate for points, it gives us a great feeling.

Mourinho: A game like that is only possible with three teams

Jose Mourinho admitted his side made ‘many mistakes’, but praised Crystal Palace and the officials after their 3-2 come-from-behind win.
The hosts took an early lead through a deflected strike from Andros Townsend, and seemed to be on their way to all three points when Patrick van Aanholt doubled the advantage three minutes into the second-half.
However, Jose Mourinho’s side roared back, scoring first through Chris Smalling before Romelu Lukaku slotted home a 76th minute equaliser.
As the game appeared to be heading for a draw, Nemanja Matic produced a superb half-volley from 25 yards to steal the three points in added time and move the Red Devils second.
“I think Palace deserve congratulations, because a match like this is only possible with two teams,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.
“I would say it was with three teams because the referee wanted to keep the intensity of the game going.
“It was a fantastic match. It was a difficult match for me because my team made so many mistakes.
“We played very good quality football in the second half but we made so many defensive mistakes.
“I don’t like my teams to lose their organisation like we did, but it was an amazing match and a very important win for us.”

Jose Mourinho Delivers Update to Man United fans About Ander Herrera
Jose Mourinho delivers the latest injury updates on Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford for Man United

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford
Jose Mourinho has revealed that both Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford missed Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle on Sunday due to injury.
The pair were not named in the Red Devils squad as Mourinho’s men slumped to a disappointing defeat by the Magpies at St James’ Park to further dent their hopes of catching Manchester City.
Matt Ritchie scored the only goal of the game in the second half as the Red Devils lost their second Premier League game in three outings.
Mourinho confirmed after the game that both Herrera and Rashford were missing due to injury and said that the club are not sure when the duo will be available again.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Sunday, Mourinho said: “Both [Herrera and Rashford] are injured.
“I don’t think so [they will be back soon], but let’s wait a little bit.
“When it’s little tweaks in muscles you never know until you know for sure, but it’s not possible for them to play today.”
Manchester United are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Huddersfield Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Red Devils remain in second place in the Premier League table but they are now just two points ahead of third-placed Liverpool FC as the race for Champions League qualification hots up in the top flight.
Manchester United finished in sixth place and won both the Europa League and League Cup under Mourinho last season.

Jose Mourinho delivers update on Paul Pogba after Man United’s 1-0 loss at Newcastle
Jose Mourinho insists that Paul Pogba did not suffer an injury during Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho has insisted that Paul Pogba was not suffering from any injury during Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon at St James’ Park.
The French midfielder appeared to be limping at times in the first half at St James’ Park but he remained on the pitch beyond half-time.
Pogba was at fault in the build-up to Newcastle United’s goal, with Matt Ritchie netting for the home side in the 65th minute on Tyneside.
The midfielder was immediately substituted after Manchester United conceded against the Magpies.
It had been thought by some that Pogba was suffering from an injury problem.
However, Mourinho confirmed after the game that there was no problem for the French midfielder.
Asked if Pogba was injured, Mourinho replied on Sky Sports: “No, no problems.”
The defeat left Manchester United in second place in the Premier League table.
And Mourinho admitted that the home side deserved their three points following the impressive way in which they performed against his side.
Mourinho added: “They fought like animals – I hope they take that as a compliment. The gods of football were on their side. It wasn’t going to happen for us today. Newcastle gave what they have and what they don’t have, that’s a beautiful thing in football.
“They fought for their point, a point is what they had in mind. We made a defensive mistake and when they are in front they had only one thing in mind and gave their lives to keep a clean sheet.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action next weekend when they take on Huddersfield Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup away from home.
