Worlds’ Richest Football Clubs in 2017

Published

on

In 2017, Manchester United of England became the first club to surpass a £500 million turnover, which was enough to deny Real Madrid of their top spot on the list for the 12th year running as the richest football club in the world. Not much has changed in the long run, though, the League’s top three clubs have remained the same since the study was launches 20 years ago, in 1997. The combined money league clubs’ revenues increased by a massive 12% this year, reaching a total of £5.5 billion across the top 20 teams.
Manchester United £515.3 million:Manchester United of England is undoubtedly the richest club in the world. The ‘Red Devils’ have never been far from the top three – briefly toppling out during their 2012/13 season under David Moyes – but this is the first time they’ve hit top spot in over a decade. The club benefited financially from huge sponsorship deals with Chevrolet and Adidas and a return to the Champions League three season ago.
Barcelona £463.8 million: Barcelona topped their mortal enemies at last this year, perhaps thanks to the unlikely contributions of Bruce Springsteen.
‘The Boss’ used the Catalonian Nou Camp to host two shows of ‘The River Tour’, earning the club nearly €8 million.
Real Madrid £463.8 million: Winning the Champions League and a steady annual revenue gain of 7% wasn’t enough to keep the Los Blancos on top for the 12th year running.
Bayern Munich £442.7 million: Bayern charted a monumental 25% increase in income over the last season after they won their 25th Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal Final.
Manchester City £392.6 million: This is the first time Manchester City have breached the Money League top 5. The Abu Dhabi-owned City had their best ever Champions League run last season after they lost out to eventual winners, Real Madrid, in the semi-finals.
Paris St-Germain £389.6 million: This is the first time PSG have dropped out of the Money League top 5 since they were famously bought up by Qatar Sports Investments for €120 million in 2011.
Superstar striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, was sold to Manchester United last year, they’ve dropped two places in the rankings.
Arsenal £350.4 million: Matchday revenues keep Arsenal in the top 10 and no wonder – a season ticket to watch Wenger’s side is the most expensive in Britain at £1,014.
Chelsea £334.6 million: Chelsea’s owner, Roman Abramovich, is one of the wealthiest men in Russia – worth an estimated £5.8 billion.
His vast riches have inevitably trickled down and Chelsea is rarely out of the top 5 in the rankings.
Perhaps next year will see a return for the London giants as Stanford Bridge is expanded.
Liverpool £302 million: Jurgen Klopp’s side secured ninth place for the 3rd year running, despite a continued lack of Champions League football.
Their revenues are set to increase next year as Anfield returns to full capacity post-renovation.
Juventus £255.1 million: Italy’s biggest club was helped by a continued sponsorship deal with Jeep, which saw over 1.5 million shirt sales last season.

Arsenal have beaten Chelsea 2-1 to win the 2020 English FA Cup after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice, and have now qualified for Europa League.

Aubameyang was Arsenal’s man of the match, as he stole the show again just like he did against Manchester City.

Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic scored an opener on the 5th minute.

Arsenal’s former player, Olivier Giroud came through with an amazing assist after he squared it to Christian Pulisic, who beats Emiliano Martinez with a brilliant shot into the bottom left corner.

However, the Gunners got a penalty on 28th minute after VAR ruled so.

Aubameyang scored an amazing equalizer after he netted the penalty kick past Wilfredo Caballero into right side of the goal to restore parity.

On 67th minute, Aubameyang scored his brace to win it for Arsenal.

He collected a pass and from inside the box, he lifted the ball over Wilfredo Caballero, who was off his line for a great finish.

Arsenal having failed to qualify for the Champions League and Europa League needed to win the FA Cup to zoom into Europa championship.

Frank Lampard current Chelsea Manager has praised Arsenal over their appointment of Mikel Arteta as head coach. Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta was announced as the new Arsenal boss on Friday afternoon. Before joining Arsenal, Arteta had flourished as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, helping City win back-to-back Premier League titles.

Frank Lampard believes Mikel Arteta will be a ‘positive appointment’ by Arsenal, who have been coached by interim boss Freddie Ljungberg since Unai Emery’s sacking at the end of last month. Everton are also on the verge of appointing a new manager, with former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti set to be named as Marco Silva’s permanent replacement at Goodison Park. Asked about Arsenal and Everton’s moves for Arteta and Ancelotti, Lampard said: ‘Nothing surprises me and those two don’t.

‘I know the credentials of Carlo, he is a fantastic man. Arteta is obviously in a different stage of his career. ‘What I’ve heard about him, I think it will be a really positive appointment for Arsenal if they make that.’ Lampard’s Chelsea enjoyed a superb start to the season but have lost four of their last five Premier League matches ahead of Sunday’s clash against Tottenham.
Spurs have climbed up the table since Jose Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino and will move above Chelsea into fourth if they come out on top this weekend. Arsenal, meanwhile, are just tenth in the English top-flight ahead of Saturday’s trip to Everton. Arteta is expected to watch Arsenal’s clash with Everton from the stands, with Freddie Ljungberg taking charge of the team for one last time.

Arsenal Confirm the Appointment of Mikel Arteta as New head Coach

Published

Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Mikel Arteta as their new head coach after the Spaniard emerged as the outstanding candidate in their search for a permanent successor to Unai Emery.

The 37-year-old spent five years as a player at the north London club, captaining the side and winning two FA Cups, before he hung up his boots in 2016 to join Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant. Arteta has been credited with playing a key role behind the scenes at City during their unprecedented domestic treble-winning campaign last season.

He said his goodbyes to the champions on Thursday morning, addressing the whole squad, though the manner of Arsenal’s approach is believed to have annoyed City bosses. Arteta met with members of Arsenal’s hierarchy at his home on Sunday evening following their clash at the Emirates – though City chiefs were not informed of the looming advances despite being in the directors’ box together earlier in the day. A seven-figure compensation payment will be made in order to compete the move, while Arteta is believed to have been handed a £5million-a-year contract.

Guardiola’s right-hand man came close to landing the Arsenal role in the summer of 2018 following Arsene Wenger’s departure, but the club’s board eventually settled on Emery as the legendary Frenchman’s successor. However, the former PSG boss failed to build on some early promising signs and was sacked last month following a miserable run of one win in nine matches, culminating in a shambolic Europa League defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Results have hardly improved under interim manager Freddie Ljungberg, who has managed just one win from five matches at the helm and saw his side comprehensively outclassed by City during last Sunday’s 3-0 drubbing at the Emirates. Arsenal have won just one of their last 14 matches in all competitions – and are as close to the relegation zone as the top four – with Arteta facing a monumental task to turn their season around, beginning against Everton on Saturday.
