Wale Akinterinwa, an aspirant for the governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has confirmed his attendance at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday.

According to STEADY GIST, Akinterinwa, who recently vied for the party’s governorship slot against 15 others, received an invitation from the anti-corruption agency regarding financial misconduct.

Previous reports indicated that the EFCC had launched an inquiry into Akinterinwa’s alleged mishandling of substantial funds during his tenure as the Commissioner for Finance under the late Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration.

It was reported that Akinterinwa had been summoned by the EFCC several weeks prior to address various allegations but had been unable to attend due to other commitments.

In a statement posted on his verified social media account on Thursday, he stated, “Today, I will be complying with the EFCC’s request to provide further details on certain matters they wish to clarify.

“I trust in the EFCC’s ability to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice prevails.”
