Omokri exposes government’s alleged secret intentions for jailing Bobrisky
Reno Omokri, a Nigerian socio-political commentator, has stirred up controversy with his recent assertions regarding the undisclosed reasons behind the government’s decision to imprison the popular crossdresser Bobrisky.
Taking to his social media platform, the former presidential aide claimed that the government’s underlying motive for sentencing Bobrisky was to suppress the emerging cross-dressing phenomenon in Nigeria.
In a statement shared on his social media page, Reno Omokri alleged that the Nigerian government orchestrated Bobrisky’s arrest under the pretext of charges related to Naira abuse. He implied that the authorities strategically used this pretext to crack down on the growing trend of cross-dressing, all while avoiding direct confrontation that could lead to repercussions from Western powers.
In his words;
“What happened with Bobrisky just shows you the savviness of Nigeria compared to other nations and the intellectual response to governing on display by the current administration.
“The Nigerian government obviously wanted to clamp down on the trending cross-dressing culture in Nigeria. But the government was also aware of the fact that any direct move in that regard would earn it the whip of the Western powers.
“The Tinubu administration was in a dilemma. How to deal with Bobrisky for being a cross-dresser but not to make it about his being a cross-dresser. And this is where you have to respect the subtlety of the Tinubu administration. They found a creative genius way.
“Bobrisky violated a law against the abuse of the Naira. That is why a first-time offender committed an offence that even government officials engaged in during Buhari’s son’s wedding, and, despite pleading guilty, was sentenced to six months in prison.
“In fact, there is more video evidence of Naira abuse via spraying at the wedding of no less a person than Abdul Aziz Malami, the son of Abubakar Malami, SAN, Nigeria’s Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. And the scapegoating of Bobrisky has worked. Since his arrest, have you seen any of his ‘colleagues’ prancing about?
“We used to see them almost daily on blogs and social media. The traditional media, too, could not have enough of them. They got the memo. They have run for cover since the Chairwoman answered to the gender of male in court when asked to state ‘her’ gender.”

Bobrisky to spend 6 months in Ikoyi prison for naira abuse, no fine option
Bobrisky to spend 6 months in Ikoyi prison for naira abuse.
Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, a prominent transgender woman, has been sentenced to six months in jail without the option of a fine for allegedly mutilating the naira. The sentencing took place on April 12, 2024, at the Federal High Court in Lagos under the authority of Justice Abimbola Awogboro.
Bobrisky’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) occurred recently due to suspicions of her involvement in spraying naira notes. The EFCC had initiated an investigation into these allegations, uncovering further incidents of similar behavior at various event centers and parties.
Upon being summoned by the EFCC, Bobrisky cooperated and provided statements during her interrogation at the Lagos Zonal Command on April 4, 2024. Subsequently, the EFCC included money laundering charges in their case, although the court ultimately dismissed these charges.

The news has been received with mixed feelings by Nigerians with some calling the judgment too harsh for the crime of spraying the naira. “She was used as a scapegoat. Why no option of fine, please???? What point are they trying so hard to prove? I hope she learns to not always brag on social media that she is above the law when she gets out too,” one person said.
“They just used her as a scapegoat and if we’re being fair, she doesn’t deserve it. 99% percent of people at events spray money exactly the way she sprayed money in that video. This isn’t fair,” another person said.

“Award Clash Drama: Eniola Ajao’s Controversial Apology Leaked by Portable”
Famous Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao issues a public apology in a leaked voice note with controversial singer Portable, confessing that awarding Bobrisky ‘Best Dressed Female’ was deliberate to boost her movie’s promotion.
The apology follows the backlash from her movie premiere, where lifestyle influencer Bobrisky received the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award.
In a conversation with Portable, Eniola Ajao confirms the intentional nature of the act to generate buzz for her film.

She expresses regret over the situation, explaining that desperation and a significant investment of over N200M in her movie led to this decision.
While visibly emotional, Eniola acknowledges her mistake and seeks forgiveness from the public.

“I am deeply sorry; what’s done is done. It wasn’t accidental; I am an adult. It was a calculated move; I poured over N200M into the film. I understand everyone’s frustration, but I did it because I needed attention for the movie. I did not receive assistance anywhere else, so I resorted to this. I didn’t anticipate it would escalate like this,” she shares in part.
