Raheem was said to have died of complications arising from diabetes and high blood pressure in Lagos, on Friday and was buried in accordance with Islamic burial rites the same day.
According to TheCable, the results of the samples taken from the politician and his personal aides are being expected on Monday, April 27, 2020.
Tinubu’s Media Adviser, Tunde Rahman, confirmed the development saying the action was not an indication that the late CSO died from coronavirus related sickness.
He said, “It was just a precaution; just to be on the safer side. It has not been established whatsoever that our Chief Security Officer, Alhaji Lateef Raheem, died from COVID-19. He was battling against diabetes and high blood pressure.
“We think he may have died from complications arising from this medical condition. But we are not the experts in this aspect. Thankfully, before he was buried, samples were taken from his body for the COVID-19 test.
“We are still awaiting the results. And as a precaution, all of us have taken the tests and we are awaiting the results as well.
“This is the way it should be. No one should take chances with this pandemic. Coronavirus is real. And it is not a death sentence.”
However, on Saturday, April 25, 2020, Tinubu in his tribute to his late CSO described him as a good and decent man.
He said, “A good and decent man has gone. My Chief Security Officer, Alhaji Lateef Raheem, has passed and his death cuts severely.
“Lateef reported for work on Monday. Feeling a bit under the weather, he went home to rest. We spoke on Wednesday on the phone. He was in fine spirits and was looking forward to resuming work.”
Tinubu said he met the late police officer in 1999 when he was posted to him as a security detail for the Lagos State governorship election.

Nigeria does not have Coronavirus. It’s just a way of stealing money – Pastor David Ibiyeomi says (video)
Pastor David Ibiyeomi, has claimed that there is no coronavirus in Nigeria, adding that the virus is just an avenue for our leaders to steal.
Pastor David Ibiyeomi while speaking further, said that malaria kills more people and yet our border was not closed because of malaria.
He referenced DAAR Communications founder, Raymond Dokpesi who said he was given Malaria drugs when he was being treated for COVID-19 in an isolation centre.
Speaking from the pulpit, he said: “I told the people, what is Coronavirus? Coronavirus is only a virus that is Corona.”
He added: “People are making noise about Coronavirus. To me, it’s rubbish. Malaria, did we make noise about malaria?
“Malaria kills more people in Nigeria than Coronavirus. Everyday people die of malaria. So what are we talking about Coronavirus, closing border up and down for what?
“Nigeria does not even have it. I don’t think Nigeria has it.
“Because you’ve heard Dokpesi, he said that they say he had it, it’s malaria tablet they gave him. So, if it’s Coronavirus, why will they give him a malaria tablet?
“Nigeria, they’re using it to eat money, eat money. Governors eat money, corporations eat money, they tell lies, they’ll take money from federal aid. Government, they’ll take money from aid…”
He also claimed that the Nigerian government is intentionally exaggerating the number of people who have the disease.
“In Nigeria, the people who have it, I don’t think they are up to the number they’re calling. The number they’re calling, I don’t think it’s the number. When one person has high temperature, fever, they’ll say ‘it’s Corona, quarantine him’.”
